At the beginning of the year 2022, there’s a gradual rise in the number of tourist arrivals and the earnings. With the control of the pandemic situation tourist arrivals are rising causing an increase of 4794.6% compared to 2021. The number of tourists were recorded in the month of January as 82 327 while earnings were recorded as US$ 268.3 million
With the identification of Covid 19 disease within the country, tourist arrivals fell abruptly for the first time in the history of tourism beginning in the march 2020. Compared to the previous year 2019, it was a decrease of approximately one – fourth of tourist arrivals and its earnings. However in the month of January 2021, it was recorded in small amounts of 1682 and US$ 5.5 million for tourist arrivals and its earnings respectively
In the year 2018, there are considerable number of tourist arrivals and earnings at the end recorded as 2,080,627 and US$ 3905 million respectively. But when it comes to the year 2019, there’s a negative growth of tourist arrivals and its earnings where it shows a decline of 19.6%. Due to the impact of the Easter attack in 2019, tourist arrivals were reducing drastically. But in the month of August it shows a slight increase and has continued with few fluctuations till the month of December.
